More than month after the Department of Revenue Intelligence in a joint operation with the Narcotics dept and BSF raided Subhash Doodhani’s pharma factory and godowns at Rajsamand and Udaipur, the revenue department has begun legal proceedings to accelerate the disposal of the huge amount of contraband drug “Mandrax” seized during the raids.
3 Magistrates have been appointed to preside over the proceedings for verification of the stock and its sampling, subsequent to the application moved by DLEO in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances court in Udaipur towards the pre-trial disposal of the seized stock.
Once the “Certificate of Correctness’ is obtained from Court, the DRI will depute a high level drug disposal committee for the destruction of the Mandrax.
The arrested people in this case, which apart from movie Producer Dudhani, includes Ravi and Nirmal Dudhani, his nephews, Parmeshvar Vyas, CA and investor, Doodhani’s former partner Anil Malkani and Chemist Atul Mhatre; are still in Police custody where the investigations are on.

To be noted, there is a provision in the NDPS Act, for the pre-trial disposal of the drug, since the profits to be made by sale are huge, making the stock vulnerable to theft as well as issues related to lack of space for holding the stock. This information was provided by Special Public Prosecutor Praveen Khandelwal, who is representing the DRI.
