All shops in Maldas street will remain closed on Monday from 11am to 1pm. This closure is to protest against assault on a shopkeeper by unidentified miscreants on Sunday.
All shops in Maldas street will remain closed on Monday from 11am to 1pm. This closure is to protest against assault on a shopkeeper by unidentified miscreants on Sunday.
As per report lodged by victim shopkeeper Mahendra, 5 miscreants came on 2 bikes yesterday and smashed the glass exterior of his shop, Dalal Cloth Centre. They then came inside manhandled Mahendra and hit him before fledding the scene. The entire incident happened over a duration of about 15-30 seconds. The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed there.
Shopkeepers from nearby rushed there when the heard the sound of glass exterior shattering. The miscreants fled the scene as crowd was gathering and managed to escape. They were flaunting open sword on the bike.
Police was informed about the incident and they reached the spot. While investigations are currently on, it is being speculated that this incident was possibly to avenge some personal dispute.
Businessmen in the area protested the daylight attack and will have their shops closed for 2 hours today demanding arrest of the miscreants.
