A shopkeeper was duped of Rs.55000 worth of gold jewelry when a suspected conman came to his shop a Nara Kheda as a customer and convinced him to takeoff his jewelries and put it in a 100 rupee note to get more business.

Under the strong influence of superstitious belief, Manoharlal Chandaliya resident of Mehta Ji Ki Khidki became victim of the elegant bluffer. An FIR has been lodged with Dhanmandi Police Station and police is investigating the case as per the statements provided by neighboring shopkeepers and the victim, Manoharlal.

According to the complaint, a well dressed man came to Manoharlal’s shop today morning and purchased disposable plates and bowls worth Rs.200. He gave Rs.500 to Manoharlal who instantly gave Rs 300 rupees change.

During this period, the suspected mugger started talking to Manoharlal about his business.

“He asked me whether my business is not doing well these days. I replied that my business these days is not doing as well as it used to be. The conman then gave me an idea to improve my business. He asked me to take off my gold chain and gold ring and put it in a Rs.100 note” said Manoharlal.

“He then gave me the same note I gave him as a change. I did what he said. In the meantime, a customer came to my shop and asked me questions that diverted my attention. Taking advantage, the conman ran away with that note and gold jewelry”

According to police the gold chain was of one and half tola with a gold pendent of 2gms and a gold ring was of half tola.

A few people also noticed another man accompanying the conman.
