An extremely skilled thief involved in theft of electonic items including laptops and cameras from Volvo buses was finally nabbed by Police. Police recovered 11 laptops and 5 costly cameras from the culprit.

An extremely skilled thief involved in theft of electronic items including laptops and cameras from Volvo buses was finally nabbed by Police. Police recovered 11 laptops and 5 costly cameras from the culprit.

The culprit, Prakash Chandra (s/o Roop Chandra Jain) is a resident of Kandoiyya ka Ganv (Pali district). He accepted to over 10 incidents of theft in interrogation.

Most of the thefts were carried out in roadways volvo buses plying between Udaipur-Jaipur. As a modus operandi, Prakash would board volvo buses from Udaipur-Jaipur and Jaipur-Udaipur. He would then eye travellers carrying laptops and other costly electronic equipments. If the traveller fell asleep near Bhilwara/Chittorgarh stops, he would skillfully take their electronic items, keep them in his bag and get off.

After a large number of incidences were reported on the route, police initiated inquiry and set up a team for the same. On careful study, team found Prakash suspicious as he was a frequent traveller on this route. Police finally nabbed him on a stolen motorcycle. On further interrogation, he accepted the volvo bus thefts also along with other incidences.

Prakash used to sell off the items of theft at throwaway prices in his own village market and in Gujarat.
