The ex - district president of Shree Rajput Karni Sena Digvijay Singh has been arrested by the police after he opened fire at the State President of the outfit during a press confrence here at Udaipur on Sunday morning.
SP Bhuwan Bhushan said " The accused Digvijay Singh (40) alias Bammu Bathera a residents of Sakroda village has been arrested, a pistol has also being seized from from and he has been booked under several sections of Indian Penal Code including 307 and section 3/25 of Arms Act. Police is now interrogating him further about the incident. During the initial interrogation it was learnt that the victim Bhanwar Singh Saladiya (45) the State President of Shree Rajput Karni Sena has removed the accused Digvijay Singh from post of the district president of the outfit following which he with an intention of revenge opened fire at Bhanwar Singh. However the accused has been arrested and he is still under police interrogation ".
The incident occured on Sunday morning ar around 11.30 am when the victim Bhanwar Singh was addressing a press confrence organised for poster launch of a mass rally to be held on 23rd September at Gandhi Ground of the city, SP added.
The accused Digvijay Singh was also present in the press confrence, as soon as the confrence ended and the victim was moving out of the confrence hall the accused pulled a pistol from his pocket and opened fire at him. The bullet got stuck in the spinal code of the victim and he was later rushed to the Maharana Bhopal government hospital of the city and later referred to a private hospital in critical condition, Sp added.
The accused tried to escape the scene soon after the incident but he was caught by the members of the Sena and was thrashed by them and later handed over to police.The weapon used by him during the act has been seized and now police is also questioning him about the weapon.
Digvijay Singh was the ex- district president of the Shree Rajput Karni Sena and was recently removed from his position by the victim Bhanwar Singh Saladiya who is the State President of the outfit.
