Sylvester wearing a grey colored t-shirt was looking quiet when he entered the court at around 3:45pm amid tight police security. Another, Sunil Kasara has also been sent to remand for two days. Kasara has allegedly provided weapon to Sylvester to kill an Udaipur based businessman regarding property issue.

According to sources, it is believed that Sylvester escaped from police custody while he was escorted by Gujarat Police on Oct 7, 2011. He was later nabbed by Udaipur police from his relative’s house at Bhopalpura.

While talking to media personnel, Tejraj Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Udaipur said, “We have collected information from Sylvester while interrogation in his remand period, though we cannot disclose it before further confirmation.”

When asked about the role and motive of Sunil Kasara, the officer said, “We have taken his remand from court and only after interrogating we can comment on this.”

Sylvester is involved in many criminal cases including extortion, assault etc. He was also convicted in Hamid Lala, another gangster’s murder case. He was close to Sohrabuddin and Tulsi Prajapati who were killed in controversial encounters.

His escape from Gujarat police custody clearly shows police negligence and 4 policemen have been arrested for their irresponsibility in handling the criminal. The case has been highly projected by media and it also raised several questions on police’s alleged involvement.

A police officer under condition of anonymity said, “Police is not involved but it was their sheer negligence that Sylvester escaped.”
