Now you can easily know how many mobile numbers in your name are active or have been issued. Facilities have been provided on the Telecom department GoI site to allow a person to close unknown numbers that are linked to their Aadhar Card.

It is often heard that a criminal receives the SIM card issued by the telecom operator with the Aadhar card and other documents. In some circumstances, the police work by detecting someone on whose behalf the SIM is issued, and even that individual is unaware that someone else has issued the SIM card on his behalf. These cases can now be halted by our own initiative.

Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) portal has been established by the Department of Telecommunications of India (DoT). You can check all numbers (SIM) cards that have been issued against your Aadhar card by clicking on this link https://tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/. This facility was launched way back in April. This allows to access to information if someone issues a mobile number in your name without your knowledge.

By using the portal, you can quickly learn about all of the mobile numbers associated with your name. For this, you must enter your active number and then an OTP will be sent on that number. Information on all mobile numbers will be provided by putting it on the portal. Information will also be provided via SMS. Based on the request of the person, the telecom company will block the inactive or unauthorised SIM cards running in their name.

The following benefits are envisaged:

  • It will prevent Cyber Crimes. According to the rules, one individual can be issued nine SIM cards. However many more SIM cards are being used in the name of one individual. This results in a wide range of cybercrimes. Now, every individual is able to get access of information about their active numbers and do the needful. For many years, telecom firms were expected to provide such service. With its launch, all mobile data telecom operators in all states will progressively upload their data to a single server. SIM card holders will be able to determine the actual status of the SIM card issued in their name using this method.
  • Many people forget their previous phone numbers, but they’ll be able to access the information in this portal. In the event of police or legal action, the portal will be used to determine how many SIM cards have been issued in the person's name.
  • Other advantages will be facilitated with time.
