Tens of teachers under the banner of Rajasthan Teachers Association have appealed to the Police department of Udaipur district to assure safety and security of teachers from those students who have iniquity and records of violence and misbehavior.
The memorandum was handed over to several top police officers of the city, demanding security to Jeevanlal Daranga (in photo above), a teacher of Guru Gobind Singh School who had a clash with a few of his students on 11 Jan, in which 2 of the students were admitted to hospital while Jeevanlal has also received minor injuries on his hands and face. Babulal Jain, regional head of Teacher’s Association expressed his detestation towards the students who allegedly assaulted Jeevanlal and also tore off the exam answer sheets. Jain demanded strict action against the students and also requested special security for the Teacher.
“We are not going accept this hostility towards teachers by such students; we have demanded security from administration to all teachers, especially female teachers who are much concerned about their safety”, said Babulal Jain.
Teachers including injured Jeevanlal Daranga had gathered outside the Collector’s office and expressed their protest and demanded action against the (culprit) students. Daranga was wearing a crep-bandage on right hand and a medicated strip on his cheekbone. This was contradictory to his previous situation, when he was looking fit yesterday after the incident. When asked how and when he got injured, he said that he came to know later that his hand was fractured and got some bruises on face.
Students have no right to call themselves students if they cannot obey and respect their teachers; though in whatever condition, if a teacher reacts violently to his students behavior then the example which is being set is also derogatory for the teacher’s fraternity.
