In relation to the incident where a petrol bomb was thrown at a temple priest (pujari) and his wife, the Rajsamand police have arrested four people and detained 11. Those arrested have been identified as Narendra Singh, Bhanwar Singh, Hardev Bhatt and Jitendra Singh, who were arrested from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. A gang of people allegedly threw a petrol bomb at them as they were having dinner at their home on Sunday, November 19, 2022. The senior temple priest (Pujari) Navrattan Lal, 75 and his wife Jamna Devi, 60, suffered significant burn injuries in this incident. It is said that the attack was fuelled by a property dispute. On 20 November, 2022, Udaipur IG Praful Kumar and Divisional Commissioner of Udaipur, Rajendra Bhatt reached the super speciality block of Udaipur’s MB Hospital to enquire about the well-being of the couple.

The event happened in the Devgarh area of Rajsamand district's Heera ki Basti. Following the event, the husband and wife were brought to a neighboring hospital but were later transferred to Udaipur's Maharana Bhupal Hospital for treatment. Witnesses to the event claimed that the attacker fled immediately after launching the bomb. The incident occurred as a result of police carelessness, according to Mukesh Prajapat, the priest's son. Additionally, he expressed disappointment that no appropriate action was done despite his making a report with the Kamli Ghat police station in this respect. According to Mukesh, his father has served as the local temple's priest for a couple of years, but there has been a controversy there for some time. Sarpanch Hardev Bhat and MLA Sudarshan Singh, according to Mukesh, are responsible for the entire affair.

In their conversation with Mukesh Prajapat, IG Praful Kumar and Rajendra Bhatt promised that the accusers will face harsh punishment. Rajsamand SP Sudhir Choudhry suspended Kamlighat Sub-Inspector Raju Singh and Devgarh SHO Shaitan Singh Nathawat for alleged incompetence in the case.
