Surajpole police nabbed a theft racket involved in various thefts in Udaipur, Jaipur and Mumbai. The modus operandi of this racket is quite interesting. The members of this racket used to operate in various cities and immediately after the theft would leave the city via train or bus route. This interstate gang was unveiled by police and 5 of these gang members were arrested.

One of these is an auto-rickshaw driver from Udaipur. He was providing transportation assistance to the other members of the racket. The racket was involved in robbing a saree and mobile showroom at Bapu Bazar from where they stole mobiles and silver coins. After the theft, the CCTV footages revealed that these members after robbing the shop were boarding a vikram tempo for escape. The number of the tempo could not be seen but police gave the details to an informer about the auto based on some other evidences. On Sunday morning police got information that a similar auto was spotted at the railway station with some youths in it. This is where police came into action immediately and nabbed these thieves along with the auto driver.

The gang has youths from different areas and live in rented accommodations in Mumbai doing minor tasks. They contact each other over phone and fix up meetings. Then they disperse to different cities and perform the theft. Their theft takes place late night and then they leave for another city. Prior to this they perform recce in the auto during afternoon. The gang came in contact with this auto driver who used to pick them up from the theft site and drop them at railway station or bus stand. He was given equal share by the theft racket.
