A group of thieves allegedly broke into three shops adjacent to each other near Gurudwara, Sikh Colony and looted cash and goods worth approximately Rs.1 Lakh. The incident, which occurred last night, has created a sense of absolute insecurity among shopkeepers.

Sai Readymade Garments, Smart Computers and Catalyst Coaching Center were targeted by thieves last night. The culprits executed the theft by first breaking into one of the shops and then successfully entering other two by using a different entrance.

Reportedly, Rs. 1800 in cash and 3 laptops worth Rs. 75,000 from Smart Computers; Rs. 1000 in cash and a few pair of garments from Sai Readymade Garments and Rs. 15000 in cash from Catalyst were stolen.

According to a shopkeeper, the thieves used a hoarding to climb up to the window of Sai Readymade Garments, and then they got into the shop by twisting the bars of the window. Afterwards, they are assumed to have used the door of the same shop that leads to the gallery to get into other two shops viz. Smart Computers and Catalyst Coaching Centre.

“I left for my home at 9 PM, last night. In the morning around 6 am, I got a call from Dharmendra, caretaker of all shops in the building informing that he has been locked in his room from the outside. I rushed to the shop and understood the whole incident. I informed Surajpol Police station immediately”, says Hemant Mandot, owner, Smart Computers.

“The gap between the bars was only sufficient for a child to break in so it is assumed that a child broke in and then he opened the main gate of the shop for others to come in. Then they used the door (near the Trial Room) to get to the gallery that leads to Smart Computers and Catalyst Coaching Centre”, said Mahesh Kumar, Owner, Sai Readymade garments.

The key point is that the shops are situated at the main circle near Kumharon Ka Bhatta and Sikh Colony. Thus it is again assumed that the thieves were least bothered about either the Police or the administration.
