Udaipur Couple Beaten, Molested by Army Jawan

An Udaipur couple was subjected to a beating by Army jawans at Pahalgam during their weeklong holiday to Anantnag district located in Jammu & Kashmir.

Udaipur Couple Beaten, Molested by Army JawanThe jawan responsible for the crime has been identified as Jhankar Singh who belongs to the 3rd battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles. FIR has been registered with the local police under the sections 341, 323, 354 and 392 against the accused soldier. The jawan, however is yet to be arrested by the police.

According to the scene of events provided by the local media, the victims of the crime, who hail from Udaipur, got into an argument with a local taxi driver over the transportation charges outside the Pahalgam tourist resort.

The quarrel was interrupted by some army jawans who attacked the tourist arguing with the taxi driver. Sunil Mishra, the victim of the attack was beaten by the soldiers.

When Sunil’s wife Radha tried to protect her husband, she was allegedly misbehaved with and molested by one of the jawans. Several other people including women who were travelling with the couple were also injured in the attack. Some sources have said that the arguing taxi driver was working in the army camp when the incident occurred.

At the sight of the violence, a few of the locals rushed to help the victim and protect him from the jawans. Later, many of the local residents of the area, including shopkeepers and taxi drivers, staged strong protests against the jawans for their alleged behavior.
