Investigations into the estimated Rs 3000 Cr – Rs 5000 Cr illegal drug (Mandrax) manufacture and trade racket are leading to trails in UAE, Armenia and Syria. Readers might recall that Udaipur based firm masterminded by bollywood producer Subhash Dudhani was raided by DRI officers ten days back in connection with illegal drug trade.
As per details from Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) office, Dudani’s partner-in-crime and kingpin of this elaborate narcotics racket was a Sharjah-based Armenian, L.K.. He ran an audio cassette and compact disc company in Dubai.
Dudhani conceived this idea of illegal manufacture of Mandrax in a series of meetings with L.K. in the latter’s office in Bur Dubai and Dubai Airport Free Zone. L.K. promised investment of Rs 100 Crores in Dudhani’s drug manufacturing plant. He also introduced Dudhani to a Syrian friend with a pet name of “Doctor”.
Doctor taught Dudhani the entire process of manufacturing Mandrax. With this knowledge in hand, Dudhani started manufacturing the Mandrax tablets in 1.2 gms and 1.4 gms.
Business sourcing was done by L.K.. Personal secretary of L.K. used to provide Dudhani the address across countries where the consignment were to be sent. These messages were sent by secretary through WhatsApp. Dudhani then used to carry out the shipment.
DRI is hoping to open up a huge chain of illegal drug traders through this investigation.
