Accused her in laws of tarnishing her character to build grounds for divorce

In the first Triple Talak case registered in Udaipur, a 20 year old lady has filed a complaint with the Dhan Mandi Police Station.

20 year old Asma Siddiqui, a resident of Dholi Bawdi, filed and FIR, accusing her in laws and husband Ahmed Raza of mental and physical torture. She further alleged that her husband uttered "Talak" (Divorce) three times and asked her to leave his home.  The complaint was filed with IG Udaipur, Binita Thakur on Monday.

As per the FIR, Asma was staying with her husband and his family in Salumber. Her in laws used to ill treat her, and being from a poor family, her parents could not fulfil her in laws demand for dowry.  Further, she also accused her sister in law and her friends of planning a rendezvous with a man named Sarfaraz who befriended her in a religious program, with an intention of tarnishing her character.  She said that her in laws did this in order to create grounds for divorce as they did not want her in the family.

Asma's FIR also mentions that her in laws snatched her mobile and forwarded her personal messages and pictures across the family. She also accused her in laws of calling up people who said that she used to talk illicit things with them.  Asma says that this entire episode culminated with her husband announcing Talak and forcing her to return home.

A case has been resgistered under IPC 498A, 354 and under the Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Ordinance, 2019.
