In a shocking incident, an undertrial prisoner tried to hit the magistrate with a slipper in one of the courts in the Udaipur District and Session court campus yesterday.
The incident happened around 4:30pm yesterday in (Civil)North court no 2. The undertrial, Bhairulal Jat, was undergoing trial in case related to Arms Act. This happened yesterday when the proceeding where going on. All of a sudden, Bhairulal flung his slipper towards the judge. Fortunately, given that he directly tried to fling it from his legs, the slipper did not go too far and hit the lower portion of magistrates desk. He then tried to take out the other slipper but by this time the guards rushed towards him and nabbed him.
Considering the serious disrespect of the judicial institution, lady magistrate immediately reported the matter to Chief Judicial Magistrate. Chief Judicial Magistrate then asked the Bhupalpura police station to register a case in this regard.
As per sources, Bhairulal seemed to be under severe depression as he was lodged in jail for over 7 months. He was arrested in February this year by Hiran Magri police for possessing a knife. Though, an immediate bail is permitted by law in such minor cases but since none of Bhairulal’s family member appealed for the same, he has been languishing in jail leading to state of depression.
