The family of Neeta Sharma, the lawyer who committed suicide in court premises on Monday, have registered an FIR against another lawyer, Chetan Menariya, alleging his involvement in abetting Neeta's suicide

 

Update – Deceased Lawyers family alleges role of senior in abetting suicide

The family of Neeta Sharma, the lawyer who committed suicide in court premises on Monday, have registered an FIR against another lawyer, Chetan Menariya, alleging his involvement in abetting Neeta’s suicide.

Dilip Sharma, father of the deceased Neeta has alleged in the FIR that Neeta was pursuing practice under Chetan Menariya for the last 11 years, and it was during this association that Chetan came close to Neeta and abused her physically, mentally and financially.  He alleged that Chetan had taken Rs 4 Lac from Neeta for purchasing a car.  When Neeta asked for  the money, Chetan and his wife Sangeet blackmailed Neeta, threatening to doscredit her in society.

As per reports, Neeta had messaged her colleagues and friends explaining the situation and categorically mentioned that due to the stress caused to her by Chetan and his wife, she is committing suicide.  Police have registered the case and begun investigations.

Chetan, on the other hand has disappeared since the new of Neeta’s suicide was made public.  He was not even present during her funeral, even though Neeta had worked with him for 11 years.  Further, women lawyers have begun a signing petition for cancellation of charter of Chetan and expel him from the Bar.  Mahendra Nagda, President of the Bar Association has formed a five member team to support in the legal proceedings related to Neeta Sharma’s suicide.
