Woman accuses in-laws of physical torture

Dungarpur , 06.09.23- A 52 year old tribal woman of Dungarpur has been branded as a witch and was beaten up by her relatives. The incident occured on September 3 but could not be reported as the victim woman was threaten by few people of the same village.

Victim woman Atli Damor is a resident of Ramsagda village of Dungarpur, the accused  who is her brother in law not only beaten her up but also set both of her hands on fire.

 the victim Atli Damor said " My brother-in-law and sister-in-law, along with a female Occultist , subjected me to such cruelty. I kept on screaming, but 5 to 6 people held me tightly, they thrashed me badly and then burnt her hands. Now i want strict legal action against the family members."

The woman told that on September 3, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law took her to a female Occultist of Manpur village on the pretext of treatment. After this the female Occultist asked her son Harish to sit outside the house. While accused brother-in-law and sister-in-law of the victim talked about expelling the witch, they held her tightly. They put oil on her hands and kept burning lamps on her hands.

 One of the accused chocked her mouth so that her voice does not go out. The female occultist kept burning her hands while pretending to cast out the witch from the victim woman's body . Listening to the screams of his mother her son Harish rushed to the place for her rescue and later took her to a local hospital for treatment.

 The victim woman also added that her brother-in-law had dug a borewell in his fields in the month of May. But there was no water in it. After which he and his wife started blaming her and also branded her a witch. She also blamed them to harras by calling her by calling her a witch.

The Deputy Sp Vikram Singh said " A case has been registered against the culprits and the matter is under investigation, investigation of the matter has been handed over the Station House Officer of the Ramsagda police, further action will be taken accordingly".

Notably in yet another case of crime against women a tribal pregnant woman was stripped beaten up and paraded naked by her husband and in laws for eloping with another man ar Bhilwara district.
