A woman committed suicide by setting herself and her two year old son on fire today at 9 am in Udaipur’s Goverdhan Vilas. The woman reportedly committed this act because her husband had deserted her and her two year old son. The woman, identified as Sita Gameti, was in her mid twenties when the incident occurred. Sita’s husband, Raju Gameti, had abandoned her and their 9 month old son a year ago for another woman. Sita had been living with her mother in Goverdhan Vilas. She had been under mental trauma due to her husband’s actions. When Sita’s mother left the household this morning, she locked herself and her son inside the house, poured kerosene and set herself and her son on fire. On hearing the yells and cries of the Sita, the neighbors broke the door and rushed both victims to the hospital. However, both mother and son were pronounced “brought dead” by the authorities.
