A youth consumed poison and died 3 days later. Reason behind the youth’s suicide has not yet been identified. In the series of suicides happening in Udaipur, it is mostly youngsters who are committing suicides and depression is mainly the reason behind the act.

30 year old youth running a coaching centre at his residence consumed poison on 1st January inside his car. He called up his father around 5:30 p.m. informing him that he had consumed poison. The youth was rushed to a private hospital where he died 3 days later during treatment. The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.

Why do people commit suicide? Mostly depression is behind the step taken by the people. Since December around 9 people have committed suicide and most of them have been youths. Experts say that depression forces people to take drastic steps and suicide is the most common step as the brain undergoes negativity at its peak during this phase.

People in depression develop the feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness which they do not share with anyone or are unable to express themselves in this phase. The family and friends of such people must try to understand that these feelings are developing and such people can be identified by the changes in their attitudes. When these changes go unnoticed, a person developing these feelings goes deeper into negativity and loses control over his thoughts.

Experts also emphasise that we must look around and observe that any change of behaviour in close family and friends must be dealt with care and understanding. By being open in discussing feelings we can make a person come out of his negative phase. If the condition of the person seems difficult to deal with, he or she must be taken for counselling and treatment. This way a lot can be changed and lives can be saved.
