 Since 2007, Shiksha Sambal, a flagship programme of Hindustan Zinc has provided a platform for rural students to pursue higher education.

160 Government teachers being trained, 55 subject teachers appointed, more than 7500 students benefited.

Education has the capability to open doors for young minds and further help them to make a huge difference in the society. The flight to a brighter future is something every student aspires for and Hindustan zinc under its CSR initiatives is providing wings to such aspirations of young minds. Be it the students selected in the country's top engineering college, the pride of being selected in the country's Under-17 national football team or the phenomenal improvement in the results of the students studying in the rural areas, these achievements showcase the hidden talent of rural areas.

Under the CSR initiatives, students from surrounding areas of Hindustan Zinc’s operational units, are getting the opportunity to gain admission to the country's top engineering colleges, becoming the pride of Rajasthan by winning football championships, bolstering the future of the country through Anganwadi and pres-chool education, to building an inclusive world by integrating children with special needs into mainstream society.

Since 2007, Shiksha Sambal, a flagship programme of Hindustan Zinc has provided a platform for rural students to pursue higher education. A total of 160 Government teachers are being trained, and 55 subject teachers have been appointed. More than 7,500 students have been benefited by strengthening the quality of education.

Under the key CSR Initiative - Unchi Udaan, selected students from the under privileged background are given the opportunity for IIT coaching. Intensive coaching is being provided for the IIT entrance exam and other entrance exam of engineering colleges. At present 150 students are studying in this programme, so far total of 220 students have been benefited by it. Out of these, 2 students have been selected for IITs and NITs in reputed institutions of the country.

Zinc Football Academy is developing football players from grassroots levels with unique F-Cube technology for the youth. A batch of 179 young boys, under the age of 14, are being trained at the Zinc Football Academy in Zawar. This academy is the only one of its kind in the country equipped with advanced F-Cube technology to track the growth and performance of players. One player has been selected from Zinc Football Academy in the Under 17 National Football Team while the team has won the Rajasthan State League.

The Khushi Anganwadi project is dedicated to improving nutrition-health-education for children below the age of 5 years. Under this project, overall development of more than 1.90 lakh children is being ensured across 3,145 Anganwadis. 65% of the children of Anganwadi who were malnourished have seen tremendous improvement in their health under the Khushi project.

Under Jeevan Tarang project, efforts are being made to provide all kinds of assistance to more than 600 specially abled children to make them self-reliant so that they can lead a dignified life. Under this programme, 28 teachers are given training in Indian Sign Language. Hindustan Zinc has taken commendable steps to introduce sign language, training for blind people and to strengthen technology-based education for the blind and deaf.

Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company and the country's leading metal and mineral company is playing a pivotal role in bringing forth rural talent and providing them with the opportunities to become expert in their subject. Under Yashad Scholars Scheme, scholarships are provided for engineering youths. Vedanta Post-Graduate Girls College, Ringus is conducting free studies for girls from villages around its area of operation to pursue higher education and this year 120 rural girl students so far have taken admission.
