New Agriculture College at Dungarpur to be inaugurated by Governor Kalraj Mishra on 22 September

Rajasthan Governor, Honorable Kalraj Mishra will inaugurate the new Agriculture College of the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology at Dungarpur on 22 September. This college was approved in the last budget of the Rajasthan Government, under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

The new Agriculture College under MPUAT in a predominantly tribal belt will prove to be a boon for students of the backward and rural areas of southern Rajasthan as well. Students coming from the tribal dominated areas of southern Rajasthan will be getting access to the latest technology in the agriculture domain as well as high end education. This will create more job opportunities for students from this area. Being the third constituent agriculture technology college of MPUAT, it will also contribute to the development of agriculture in the region.

General Secretary of MPUAT Shweta Fagediya informed that the inauguration will be done in the hybrid online-offline mode under COVID protocol at 12pm on 22 September. The temporary premises of the Dungarpur Agriculture College will be at the Agriculture Sciences center, which will also host the hostel facilities for the students.

Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore, Vice Chancellor of MPUAT informed that the state government has alloted an initial Rs. 22 Crore for setting up the college along with an approval for 29 new posts. He further informed that admissions to the 70 seats to the first year in the inaugural academic session of 2021-22 will be done on the basis of the Joint Entrance Test (JET 2021), which has already been conducted.

The process for acquiring 30 acres of land under the ICAR norms has also commenced with the assistance of the local administration.  Dr. Dilip Singh, Dean of the Rajasthan Agriculture College and convening officer of the new college in Dungarpur informed that during the brief 1 hour inaugural session, the Honorable Governor Kalraj Mishra will give his address subsequent to reading out the Preamble and Fundamental Duties under the Indian Constitution.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Agriculture Minister Lalchand Kataria, MLA of Dungarpur Ganesh Ghoghra and Vice Chancellor of MPUAT Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore will also address the audience.
