Following up on the commitment to technological advances within MLSU to propagate efficiency in the daily functioning of the university, the Vice Chancellor Prof Amrika Singh has embarked on another technology mission - Artificial Intelligence.

In his meeting with the examination department and other related departments a couple of weeks back, the VC had initiated the online answer sheet checking project. In a meeting with the technology department on 5 September, he initiated a project on artificial intelligence, which when implemented timely, will make MLSU the first university to do so. Prof Amrika Singh has been advocating the use of artificial intelligence in the administration of educational institutes for long, said Dr Kunjan Acharya, Head of Department of Journalism at MLSU.

Prof Amrika Singh has discussed plans to establish an automated welcome to visitors at the MLSU premises using a AI enabled robot.  This robot will perform thermal scanning and sanitization of all visitors to the administrative block of MLSU and respond to questions from visitors and give them directions.

In order to facilitate the technical feasibility of the project, Prof Amrika Singh has met with a few technology companies in New Delhi and now seeks to establish an association to provide the MLSU technology department with technical consulting on this project.

Prof Amrika Singh said that the idea revolves around placing an AI enabled robot at the main entrance of the MLSU administrative block. The robot will do the thermal scanning of the visitor, sanitize the visitor and then respond to the questions of the visitor and guide the visitor accordingly. Continuous learning of the AI robot will be facilitated.

All of this will be initiated through a technical project plan, once the meetings with technical experts and brain storming shows positive results.

Prof Amrika Singh also said that MLSU will focus on employment based curriculum, and it is with this thought, that AI has been introduced across various streams. Research on AI will also be an important inclusion in the MLSU basket. All of this will make MLSU an example of technology incubation and innovation.
