A recent circular issued by the All India Council for Technical Educaton states that the  Ramdev led Bhartiya Shiksha Board is a pan-India School Board, on the lines of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Council of Secondary Education (ICSE).

AICTE is a national level council for technical education and the circular has been issued to all the VCs of technical universities and the Directors and Principals of AICT approved institutions. The circular says that the Association of Indian Universities accords equivalence to school Boards in India and that the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examination qualifications of the Bhartiya Shiksha Board will be considered equivalent to other national boards in India. The AICTE Circular dated 11 September was posted on its website on 14 September.

The Bhartiya Shiksha Board aims to give students a comprehensive education integrating traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern science and technology, says the BSB website.

The Board of the BSB is headed by Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev and CEO of Patanjali, Acharya Balkrishna. The other members BSB include ; Manoj Srivastava, Director, CBSE; Gridhar Malaviya, the chancellor of Banaras Hindu University; Dr. Ved Prakash, former UGC Chairman; Dr Nagendra Prasad Singh, ex-IAS; Padamshri Dr Punam Suri; Swami Govind Giri and Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor Central Sanskrit University, Delhi and spiritual guru Morari Bapu.

The  Website of the BSB also mentions that the BSB "has come into existence with a mandate to devise a genuinely indigenous model of school education that would blend the ancient Indian knowledge heritage with modern scientific knowledge and e-learning. BSB would affiliate government and private schools all over India to disseminate their uniquely ‘Bhartiya’ educational model.”
