As an integral part of pharmacy course curriculum, a two day industrial visit was conducted by BN Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Udaipur (BNIPS) at various pharmaceutical manufacturing units and R&D labs. 38 students along with Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore, Reader and HoD, Department of Pharmaceutics, Rajat Vaishanav, Faculty Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Hem Kanwar, Lab. Incharge visited Antrix Pharma, Kaladwas, Corporate Channel Pvt.Ltd.,(CCIPL) Paldi and Pesticides India Industries R&D Lab., Mewar Industrial Area, Udaipur.

Principal of BNIPS Dr. Chetan Singh Chauhan told that the industrial visit met its purpose by giving students the opportunity to learn through observation, interact on consistent basis with industry people, provided an insight on how companies work and also useful information related to the course which cannot be visualized in lectures. The industrial visit was quite enjoyable and useful and students gained good knowledge in processing of various pharmaceuticals, medical devices, chemicals, disinfectants and laboratories procedures.

The sections shown by the companies are approved by World Health Organization Good Manufacturing practices (WHO GMP) and all these plants were approved by United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA).

Anjan Lodh from Antrix Pharma showed all the processes used in manufacturing of disinfectants and their packaging and labeling. Vinod Kumat , Director of CCIPL narrated all the functions of the Sterilization, Air Handling Unit (AHU), Heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Validation procedures, manufacturing of Copper-T, Tubal rings, in process quality control (IPQC) and marketing processes.

Ramnick Dagriya and Hamendra Sharma shown all the manufacturing processes, Good Laboratory practices (GLP), evaluation procedures and also told that these products are made for Govt. of India supplies as well as for US and European countries’ supply. They described about the process of receiving raw material and then how the raw material is selected for the preparation of the Copper-T and tubal rings by extrusion and molded method.

At Pesticides India Industries (PI industries Pvt.Ltd.), students observed R&D lab facilities, shown by Human Resource Manager Manju Pal and demonstrated by scientists Dr.Devendra Singh.

Students expressed that this trip inculcated a feeling of new vistas of pharmaceutical industry and this is proved to be very informative and educative. They were overwhelmed by interacting with scientists and seeing exceptionally good lab and excellent state-of-the-art infrastructures.
