Books and bags for balloon babies on Children’s day
Collector distributed bags and books to street children at Sukhadia Circle.
Children’s Day 2017 turned out to be an eventful day for children selling balloons at and nearby Sukhadia Circle.
Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick went to Sukhadia Circle on 14th November-Chidren’s Day and spent time with the kids selling balloons. He interacted with the children asking them if they attend school or any other Anganwadi centre. The children showed their interest in studying and expressed their wish to go to school. They even shook hands with the Collector. Collector Mallick showered them with love and blessings. He distributed gift kits to these children. Each kit had school bag, books (hindi), slate, pencil, pencil box, water bottle, sweater and even toys.
NGO Impetus decided to teach these students every evening regularly for half an hour. The aim of Impetus is to create a better future for these children. Chairman Manju Lakshmi said that classes will be held for these balloon children every evening at 7:30. They will be taught to read and write. Along with this, classes of behavioural patterns and meditation will also be conducted for them.
Health check-up was also done for these kids by Red Cross Society.
