Udaipur, December 11,2024 - The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported a growing interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) among students. In the academic session 2024-27, a significant number of students from Classes 9 to 12 opted for AI as a subject.
Approximately 7.90 lakh students in Classes 9 and 10 chose AI as a subject. Additionally, around 50,000 students from Classes 11 and 12 were associated with this subject.
CBSE included AI in its curriculum in 2019. It is currently taught in about 4,538 schools for Classes 9 and 10. At the senior secondary level, 944 schools are offering this subject.
AI is taught as a skill subject for Classes 9 to 12. For Class 8 students, a 15-hour AI module is also part of the curriculum. This early exposure helps students build a strong foundation in AI.
The inclusion of AI in school education is proving beneficial for students pursuing higher studies. With growing applications of AI in daily life, its role in education is expanding.
The number of students opting for AI is likely to increase in the coming years, reflecting the rising importance of this subject.
