CBSE May Hold Board Exams Twice a Year from 2026

A meeting was recently held by the Ministry of Education with the Central Board of Secondary Education on this matter; Board likely to release the draft for public consultations by next week

February 19, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may soon be holding two Board exams for Grades 10 and 12 from the next academic session. A meeting was recently held by the Ministry of Education with the CBSE on this matter, shared Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan on social media. He said that key points and deliberations will soon be placed for public consultation by CBSE.

"Taking this a step forward, held detailed deliberations with Secretary School Education, CBSE chairperson and other officials of the Ministry and CBSE over 'Conduct of CBSE examinations twice a year'. The draft schema of these deliberations will be placed soon for public consultation by CBSE,” Pradhan said on X

According to reports, CBSE chairperson Rahul Singh said that the Board is likely to release the draft for public consultations by next week.

According to Minister Pradhan: “Creating a stress-free learning environment for students has been an important focus of the Government. Examination Improvement and Reform is a key step towards this.”

Apart from the Union Minister and CBSE chairperson, other members present at the meeting, included Secretary, DoSEL, Secretary ER, MEA, heads of CBSE, NCERT, KVS, NVS along with representatives of global schools.
