CBSE has permitted students who are appearing for the upcoming Board examinations from November and are not present in the city/town housing their school to opt for a change of Centre.

The COVID Lockdown, which caused schools to shut down and resume with online education over the last 18 months had resulted in the boarding school students to return to their home cities. Now, with the offline board Term 1 examinations being announced by the CBSE, those students who are away from their schools can request a change of venue for the examinations. This was announced by the CBSE on Wednesday, October 20.

As announced by the CBSE earlier on October 18, the Term 1 Board Examinations for the session 2021-22 for Class 10 will begin from November 30, while those for Class 12 wlll begin on December 11.

Sanyam Bhardwaj, Examination Controller at the CBSE said that the CBSE will at an appropriate time, make and announce this procedure and will ask the interested students to request their respective schools to change the exam centre. The School then, as per the instructions given by the Board, will forward the request to the CBSE online. The time given for the centre change application and process will be across a very short window after which no change request will be entertained, hence schools and children need to be in touch with the CBSE.

In July, the CBSE had announced the bifurcation of the academic session and rationlising the syllabus for Class 10 and 12. The exams will be held offline but the legacy pattern will be replaced by Objective structure where the questions will be MCQs. While the Board will conduct the examinations for the Major papers, it will be the responsibility of the schools to conduct the examinations for the Minor subjects, the papers being provided by the Board.
