It may be noted that 6 out of 28 states have already conducted exams, 18 have cancelled them and 4 have not yet cancelled the exams.

The court also said that there cannot be uniform scheme for assessment for all state boards.

The Supreme Court directed all states on Thursday to declare class 12 results by July 31. The court also asked the state boards to notify the internal assessment scheme within 10 days and declare the assessment by 31st July.

The SC also said that there cannot be a uniform assessment scheme for all state boards across India. The court also refused to pass any such order while hearing a plea seeking cancellation of board exams. A bench of Justices said that each board will have to evolve their own scheme of assessment.

During the hearing through video conferencing an advocate told the bench that state boards which have cancelled the board exams may be asked to have a uniform scheme for assessment of students.

The court said that state boards have experts to provide advice on these issues and there cannot be uniformity in assessment scheme across India. It may also be noted that 6 out of 28 states have already conducted exams, 18 have cancelled them and 4 have not yet cancelled the exams.
