CBSE Exam on Holika Dahan in Rajasthan Amid Holi Dates Mismatch Across India
The Education Ministry had sought clarification from CBSE over conducting Class 10 and 12 Board exams on March 2 during Holi celebrations in Rajasthan; CBSE responds
Udaipur, Feb 26, 2026 - Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and RBSE Board exams are currently underway in Rajasthan. And one of the CBSE exam for Classes 10 and 12 falls on March 2. Interestingly, holi holidays in Rajasthan have been declared for March 2 and 3 with Holika Dahan holiday falling on March 2. However, the Central Government has declared March 3 and 4 as holidays for Holi and the CBSE has scheduled its exam based on this.
The State Ministry of Education wrote to the CBSE regarding holding the Board examinations on the day of Holika Dahan in Rajasthan. The Board wrote back saying that while preparing the examination schedule, all major festivals and national holidays were taken into consideration. However, State-specific calendars were not studied.
The CBSE said the examination schedule was released well in advance. Since a large number of students across the country appear for the Board exams, making changes to the dates is practically difficult. The process involves coordination of multiple subjects, examination centres and administrative arrangements. The current schedule has been prepared after careful planning and, therefore, changes are not possible, the Board added.
