The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to improve internal assessment norms and consider CCTV surveillance for board exam rooms. This plan aims to address inconsistencies and enhance transparency in evaluating students.
In collaboration with the British Council, CBSE will develop a framework for internal assessments in science subjects for Classes 6 to 12. This new system will focus on reducing mark inflation and ensuring fairness in evaluations. Workshops will be held for school leaders to promote consistency and transparency.
Additionally, CBSE is exploring the use of CCTV cameras in exam rooms to prevent disturbances and ensure proper administration of board exams. Schools may be required to install cameras, with some costs covered by CBSE. Recordings will be submitted to a central database for review.
This initiative will begin with a pilot project involving 30% of exam centers, with plans to expand to all centers by 2025. A committee will be formed to oversee the implementation and assess infrastructure needs.
