CBSE clarifies that dates of the Class 10 and 12 Board exams are not yet declared
  • CBSE has clarified that the dates of the Board examinations in 2021 are not yet declared and social media information is misleading
  • Dates and schedule will be communicated through the official website only

In view of the tension gripping over the examination dates for CBSE 10th and 12th board examinations, CBSE has clarified that certain social media platforms are circulating incorrect information about the examination dates. CBSE stated that exams may not be held in Feb-Mar’21 and that CBSE would announce the dates through their official site at the appropriate time AND after taking appropriate consideration of the loss in academic indulgence due to COVID.

The information about Feb-Mar’21 board exams had caused much stir among students as they haven’t had enough time to prepare for the exams in the absence of offline classroom sessions. They are yet to clear their doubts, which has become difficult since there are a lot of network issues and the topics are not yet clear. As per earlier news reports, Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations at CBSE had asserted that the Board had no plans to delay the Board examinations - this caused the furore over the dates and the confusion.

However, now the CBSE has confirmed and clarified that the decision over examination dates will be taken only by CBSE after consultation with stakeholders. The Board added that it is well aware of the panic spreading among parents and students regarding practical exams as well. It may be noted that consultations are underway.

Addressing the students earlier on Thursday, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also said that students will be given adequate time to prepare for the board exams. He also clarified that there is no compulsion for conducting board exams in March. He also stated that the dates for the practicals and exams will be fixed in such a way that do not clash with the dates of any kind of entrance exams.

The controller of examinations at CBSE had also mentioned earlier that there would be more than enough gap between the subject exam dates, so as to give students enough time to prepare. He had also assured that the examinations of the Board would be done in such a manner so as not clash with any other examinations.
