CBSE Starts Online Digital Checking of Class 12 Answer Sheets

CBSE has introduced digital evaluation for Class 12 answer sheets in 2026; teachers are checking scanned copies online, improving transparency and speeding up result processing

March 16, 2026 - The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced the on-screen marking (OSM) system this year for the evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets. All answer sheets of the current Board exams are being checked online in digital format. Teachers across all regions are currently engaged in digital evaluation.

Under the supervision of Exam Controller Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, teachers were given training on how to evaluate answer sheets online. After completing the training, teachers appointed by the Board have begun checking scanned answer sheets on computers.

For this process, the answer sheets are scanned and converted into digital format. Examiners view the answers on their computer screens and enter marks directly into the system. Total marks will be calculated automatically.

CBSE had organised mandatory mass mock evaluation of on-screen marking (OSM) on February 26, 2026, with the objective of familiarising teaches of Classes 11 and 12 with this new system. The aim was to provide teachers with first-hand experience of the system and to refine and enhance the platform based on feedback received from evaluators across all affiliated schools.

The digital evaluation system is currently introduced for Class 12 only. Class 10 papers will still be checked in physical mode.

While the Class 10 Board examinations have already concluded, the Class 12 examinations are still ongoing.
