CBSE to change 12th Exam Pattern, lessen number of Questions

Central Board of Secondary Education in an attempt to make the 12th paper difficult to score has come out with changed pattern that will be initiated from this academic year onward. To convert the paper from objective type to application based, the number of questions has been reduced.

The number of analytical and long-answer questions has increased. Political science, economics, business studies and accountancy papers will have fewer questions. Board said that the marking patterns will also be made subjective. Reduction of 1-2 mark questions will make it tedious for students to gain marks.

The following changes will be incurred:

  • 27 questions in Political Science as compared to 31. 10 questions of 1-2 marks.
  • 8 questions of 6 marks in Economics. 1 mark and 3 mark questions are now going to be 16.
  • No options available in 6 mark questions.
  • 26 questions in Math paper as compared to 29.
  • 25 questions in Business Studies as compared to 30.
