Coaching Centre Bill in Upcoming Assembly

Udaipur, January 28, 2025 - The State Government is all set to introduce the law to regulate the operation of coaching centres in order to address the alarming rise of student suicides. A Bill to this effect will be presented in the upcoming Legislative session. This information was given to the Rajasthan High Court by the government after an order regarding this was issued by a Division Bench of Justices Indrajeet Singh and VK Bhawani. The petition was filed suo-motu in 2016 concerning incidents of suicides by coaching students.

Advocate General Rajendra Prasad assured the Court that the government is working on creating a law to regulate coaching centres, addressing all aspects of the issue. Efforts are underway to present the Bill in the upcoming legislative session.

The next hearing will be on February 10.

The Rajasthan Coaching Centre (Control and Regulation) Bill 2024 will be applicable on the leading coaching hubs in the State including Kota, Sikar and Jaipur. The Bill is intended to ensure student safety and welfare and provide students with mental health support.

The draft legislation was uploaded on the Education Department website in July 2024 seeking feedback.
