Dr. Arvinder Singh, a Gold Medalist from IIM-Indore, is also pursuing his diploma from Oxford University, UK and has taken the Certified Mind Training under the De Bono Thinking Academy US and Buzan Thinking Academy. Dr. Arvinder is also an expert in Neurolinguistics.
The program today started with the welcoming of guests that was conducted by Shakuntla Sarupriya from the Times of India, followed by lighting-the-lamp ceremony by Dr. Sujan Singh, Father of Dr. Arvinder Singh.
Dr. Arvinder began his session by addressing his Gurus Dr. Edward de Bono of De Bono Thinking Academy and Dr. Tony Buzan, Buzan Thinking Academy.
The session started with an explanation on why one is not able to perform the task even when there is enthusiasm around it. Dr. Arvinder mentioned ‘Lack of Focus’ to be the key factor that affects our work
He then shed light on various factors, which helped students to implement Effective Study Skills like Speed Reading, Memorizing Techniques and implementing what you learn.
Dr. Arivinder insisted that “it’s not just about reading; it’s about reading and comprehending”. He also did a slide presentation on how one can achieve comprehensive reading and can read more in a given time than an average human.
“Aucullo Cereberal Combination (Mind + Eye), Thinking, Habits, Environment and Training are the crucial pillars of Speed reading”, said Dr. Arvinder.
“We learn through our mind and the eye helps in gathering information to summarize and learn. We can learn more rapidly with images, and for recalling things even after a long gap, we can include the techniques of Association (Association of an object with real life) and Pegging (formulas and short-cuts to memorize texts)”, he added.
With confidence visible in his eyes, Dr Arvinder Singh pointed out that our education system is totally designed for the Left-Brain, where it is mandatory for everyone to possess analytical and mathematical skills.
But this is a downside for an individual having inclination towards the Right-Brain, which majorly deals with Non-Verbal and Art related approach.
He then quoted that, “Every knowledge which is not usable or not been understood is wasted”.
Decision Making plays a vital role in an individual’s life; it consists of Information, Creativeness, Emotions, Positive Thinking, Negative Thinking and a Big Picture; these are collectively known as ‘Six Thinking Hats’.
At the end, the audience which included well-known educationalists and businessmen were awarded with a Certificate of Participation and a Memento that was presented by Dr. Sujan Singh, Claude D’Souza and Dr. Arvinder.
