Around 3,25,200 students of Grade 9 will be eligible for this government initiative
Udaipur, November 12 - Rajasthan government has issued an order for the distribution of free bicycles to female students studying in the ninth grade in government schools across the State. A work order has been issued by the Department of Secondary Education to a firm in Ludhiana to supply around 3,25,200 bicycles throughout the State.
A directive has been issued to the District Education Officers regarding this initiative. The District Education Officer (Secondary) will draw up the list of eligible ninth-grade female students for bicycles in each nodal area. The bicycles will be 20-inch models and the department will pay Rs 3,933 per bicycle.
According to departmental instructions, the bicycles will be supplied to nodal centres in each district. The firm supplying the vehicle will be required to assemble the bicycles in open spaces provided at nodal schools, from where school principals of each nodal area will transport the bicycles at their own expense.
The District Education Officer for Secondary Education is required to set up at least three inspection committees at the headquarter level to oversee this project.
