Udaipur, February 4, 2025 - The Gargi Award and Balika Protsahan Award distribution ceremony, which is organised annually on Basant Panchami by the Balika Shiksha Foundation Rajasthan, was not held this year. Instead a simple ceremony was held yesterday at the residence of Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar to begin the distribution of awards under this scheme.

This year, 227,260 girls from the State are set to receive these two awards. Additionally, the process of transferring the award amounts directly to the bank accounts of the girls, linked to their Janadhar, via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), has also commenced.

Initially, 339,928 girls were supposed to receive the awards, but only 227,260 girls applied. A total of 112,668 girls did not apply for the awards despite extension of the application deadline three times.

Education Minister Dilawar said that a sum of Rs 90.34 crore will be sent to the bank accounts of these girls through DBT as part of the awards.

The event was attended by the Secretary of Education, Director of Secondary Education and other officials from the department.
