Rajasthan's Major Push to Upgrade PM SHRI Schools

Feb 3, 2026 - The process of strengthening PM SHRI schools as centres of quality, modern and innovation-driven education has gained momentum at the State level. A meeting was organised between the Education Department and the heads of PM SHRI schools to discuss plans for the upcoming academic session, budget provisions and academic activities. Detailed deliberations were held on strategies for the holistic development of these schools.

The meeting was chaired by Ashok Kumar Meena, Additional State Project Director of the Rajasthan School Education Council.

During the meeting, proposed action plans, budget structures, academic and co-curricular activities and currently implemented innovations for PM SHRI schools across the State were reviewed. Special emphasis was laid on the operation of Bal Vatika (pre-primary sections), enhanced, digital libraries, O-Labs, smart classrooms, vocational skill education, teacher training, exposure visits and activity-based learning. These innovations were described as crucial in enhancing students’ learning abilities and overall academic outcomes.

Component-wise discussions were conducted focusing on the effective implementation of each activity, ensuring that plans move beyond paperwork and are successfully translated into classroom practices. The goal is to make these schools model institutions.

Officials informed that best educational models and best practices being implemented in other States are being studied, with the objective of adopting them in Rajasthan’s PM SHRI schools to bring about tangible improvements in the quality of education.
