In response to petition filed alleging irregularities in appointment of VC of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur, Rajasthan High Court has issued a notice to Secretary, Higher Education Department, Registrar, MLSU, members of selection committee and to the Vice Chancellor, MLSU.

High court bench of Ajay Rastogi and D C Somani issued the notice seeking response. The notice was issued in response to petition filed by Prof R.P.Maharshi alleging that Govt. had not followed UGC norms and University Act-1962 while carrying out the selection process.

Section 11 of the act had amendments made on 16 Jan, 2013 and these were not followed by the committee, stated the petition. As per the amendment, it is necessary that the selection committee has one member nominated by UGC in the selection process. This, the petition stated, was not followed and the selection was carried out in the absence of quorum.
