Petitioners claimed technical errors in provisional State merit list; next hearing December 5
Udaipur, November 29, 2024 - The Rajasthan High Court yesterday put a stay on the finalisation of the admission list for medical PG courses under the State quota for NEET (PG) 2024, due to a technical error in the provisional State merit list. The Court has sought responses from the Additional Advocate General of the State, N.S. Rajpurohit, and the Deputy Solicitor General of the Central Government.
The single Bench of Justice Dinesh Mehta was hearing a petition filed by 45 petitioners, represented by advocates Kailash Jangid and Mohan Singh Shekhawat. The petitioners claimed they were ranked higher in the merit list in the NEET PG 2024 examination which had been conducted by the Central Government. However, the counselling board had place their names below those of candidates who had lower marks. This, they argued, was because of several technical or procedural errors which existed in the preparation of the provisional State merit list that was issued on November 22, 2024. Because of the errors, incorrect admissions were being granted, the petitioners had claimed.
On scrutiny, the Court found the petitioners' allegations to be valid. The Bench granted the counselling board seven days to investigate and correct the errors.
The next hearing for the case is scheduled for December 5. Until then, the State counselling board has been prohibited from finalising the admission list for NEET (PG) 2024.
