The Delhi High Court has rejected a plea seeking the postponement of the Chartered Accountants (CA) exams scheduled for May 2024. CA aspirants had approached the court, urging the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) to reschedule the exams, citing potential conflicts with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In its ruling, the court stated that the petition lacked substance, expressing surprise at the request. It emphasized that none of the CA exam dates clashed with the voting schedule and advised students to manage their preparations effectively to ensure they could also exercise their voting rights.

The revised exam timetable, released by the ICAI, confirms that the CA intermediate and final exams will proceed on adjusted dates. Despite these changes, some CA candidates remain dissatisfied, particularly those who may face challenges travelling back home to vote during the election period.

Support for the CA aspirants' cause has come from various quarters, including child activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai, who advocated on behalf of the students in court. Additionally, practicing CAs have joined forces with aspirants in their efforts to address concerns regarding the timing of the CA May 2024 exams.

The revised schedule outlines that the CA intermediate group 1 exams will take place on May 3, 5, and 9, while group 2 exams are scheduled for May 11, 15, and 17. Similarly, the CA final exams will be held on adjusted dates, with group 1 exams occurring on May 2, 4, and 8, and group 2 exams on May 10, 14, and 16. Meanwhile, the CA foundation level exams are slated for June 20, 22, 24, and 26.
