ICSE lowers passing marks for Board Examinations

In a recent development today, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) lowered the passing marks for the Board Examinations effective from exam year 2018.

ICSE passing marks have been reduced from 35 to 33 and ISC Board examination passing marks have been reduced from 40 to 35. This decision was communicated by Gerry Arathoon, Chief Secretary, CISCE today. The marks reduction is valid for both grade 10 as well as grade 12.

“Kindly note that the change in the pass marks for the ICSE and ISC examinations will be effective from the examination year 2018 onwards and not 2019,” a circular issued by Arathoon said.

While the ISC Examinations are scheduled to be held between February 7 and April 2, the ICSE Examinations will be held between February 26 till March 28. The exam dates are subject to change depending on the Assembly elections in some states.
