IIM Udaipur today took a giant leap in its quest for becoming one of the best management institution globally by moving to its permanent campus in Balicha. While construction work is still on in most of the campus, a set of classrooms and faculty offices are in ready shape.

Classes kicked off today at the Balicha campus of IIM Udaipur. Sessions were held for the second year students from 9:00 am in the morning and classes were scheduled to go on till 7:45 PM. First year students will have their regular sessions commencing from tomorrow.

As per information from campus sources, student hostels are currently getting final touches and students should be able to move into the hostels at permanent campus in another 15 days time. Currently the campus has organised for bus service to transport students from their existing hostels in MLSU campus to Balicha.

IIM Udaipur is the first of the new IIMs to move completely into the permanent campus. When finally complete, this campus will be one of the biggest and prettiest campuses in the country. IIM Udaipur campus will boast of both permanent and seasonal lakes within its premise. The architects have leveraged the undulating terrain and have come up with some absolute magnificence.

The student hostels have been built by stone instead of bricks. Two layers of stone with air vacuum in between provide for insulation from atmospheric heat and cold. The campus will aim to be water and energy neutral as far as possible.

One big milestone achieved. The city wishes its own IIM huge success.
