In a decision by High court, the stay on the land for permanent campus of IIM Udaipur was pulled off. Management will now start working on construction of the campus for IIM-U at Balicha.

Started in 2011, IIM-U was functioning from the Polymer Sciences building in MLSU, Udaipur. With the stay pulled off, UIT also gave the green signal for the land in Balicha.

When in 2010-11 it was declared that IIM will have an institute in Udaipur, the management applied for land in Balicha but the matter went downhill as the land was under questions, being a greenbelt area. Recently the High Court lifted the stay and UIT also cleared the proposal for the same.

The land that was asked by management of IIM is 122 hectare in size and falls between Balicha (Girwa), Seth Ji ki Kundal and Surfala village.

According to a local daily, with this decision, the project of constructing the IIM-U campus which is estimated to cost around Rs. 577 crore, will kick start now. There will be measures applied to maintain the green factor of the area by building water body, green area, air pollution control, water pollution control and sewage treatment plan.

The campus will also have faculty and staff residences, student housing, management development center, academic facility, administration building, auditorium, club house, indoor sports facility and such.
