International Conference on Sociology to start from 5th Oct
The Department of Sociology, University College of Social Sciences and Humanities, MLSU, is going to organize an International Conference on 5-6 October 2012. Theme of the conference is “Perspectives in Culture, Society and Gender in Subaltern Communities in South Asia”.
The Department of Sociology, University College of Social Sciences and Humanities, MLSU, is going to organize an International Conference on 5-6 October 2012. Theme of the conference is “Perspectives in Culture, Society and Gender in Subaltern Communities in South Asia”.
Balveer Singh, Head of Department of Sociology informed that, “A total of around 200 professors are expected to participate in the conference out of which 5 professors will be coming from abroad. The conference is about the suppressed & marginalized communities and societies in India”. He opined that the development of these communities has made them forget their roots, culture and basics from which they have evolved.
Chief Guest of the inaugural function to be held tomorrow will be Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, Minister for Tribal Area Development Rajasthan while Prof. Teus J Kamphorst from Utrecht University, Netherland will be the special guest on the occasion.
Key note speaker will be Prof. I.P. Modi, President Indian Sociological society and the function will be presided over by Professor I.V. Trivedi, Vice Chancellor MLSU.
