Registration Window Closes Today
November 22,2024 - The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the registration window for JEE Main 2025 Session 1 today, November 22, 2024. Candidates can apply through the official portal, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The first session of JEE Main 2025 is scheduled to be held from January 22 to January 31, 2025.
Removal of optional questions
Optional questions in Section B have been discontinued. Candidates must now attempt all five numerical value questions in each subject.
Revised tie-breaking criteria
The tie-breaking rules have been updated. Details are yet to be announced, but this aims to make the ranking process smoother.
No age limit
The age limit for eligibility has been removed. Candidates meeting educational qualifications can apply, regardless of age.
Reduction in exam cities
The number of exam cities has been reduced. Domestic exam centres now total 284, down from 300. International centres have also been reduced, which may affect overseas candidates.
Negative marking for numerical questions
Numerical value questions will now have negative marking. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer, similar to the marking scheme for MCQs.
Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech)
Total: 90 questions (30 each in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
Section A: 20 MCQs per subject
Section B: 5 numerical questions per subject (mandatory)
Paper 2A (B.Arch)
Total: 77 questions in Mathematics, Aptitude, and Drawing
Drawing section now carries 30% of the total marks
Paper 2B (B.Planning)
Total: 100 questions in Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning
The changes reflect a return to the traditional structure used before 2021. The NTA is also considering adaptive difficulty levels for future exams, though this has not been implemented yet.
Candidates are advised to complete their registrations before the deadline and stay updated with any further announcements.
