State run universities in Rajasthan can give a passe to Convocation caps and gowns as they will now be replaced by kurta-pyjama/dhoti or Jodhpuri suit for male candidates and sarees for female candidates.

Hence, Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur will now have its convocation with the students dressed in traditional dresses.

This was finalized by Governor Kalyan Singh on Friday in a meeting with Vice Chancellors.

With this Rajasthan has now become the first state in the country to have a official dress code for convocation in Universitites. Dress code will also have a colour but this will be decided at a later date by the Governor.  The proposal was passed in presence of all 25 Rajasthan state universities in Raj Bhawan.
