Fateh School Udaipur witnessed a live demo by the Disaster Force yesterday. SDRF gave demos to the students about rescue operation during flood by means of empty 2 litre water bottles. They said that if someone is drowning in front of your house during floods, his life can be saved by 5 empty water bottles of 2 litres each.

5 to 10 empty bottles should be tied on the rescuer’s body with the help of a rope and this way a 60 to 70 kilo person can be pulled out of water and saved. They also said that 5 thermocol sheets of 2X2 can also be used for saving a drowning person. Company Commander Rakesh Kumar said that this was the first camp of its kind where they are giving lessons and demos to the students about disaster management. Such camps will be organised in various other schools, too.

Demos were also given both live and by projector on fire in LPG gas cylinder. It was emphasised that in case of fire in LPG cylinder, blanket should be used to put out fire instead of water. Blanket acts as a fast fire extinguisher.  SDRF will also be going around in flood prone and river bed areas for a recki and mark the areas which may need disaster management and make people aware of the relief projects.
