JEE Main 2026 Exam Application Opens: Live Photo Upload Among New Features

NTA opens registration for JEE Main 2026 till November 27; Aadhaar-based photo matching introduced, CBT exam to feature dark mode and magnifier tools

 |

Nov 12, 2025 - The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for JEE Main 2026. Students have time to apply until November 27. This year, several important changes have been introduced in the application process.

Exam will be held in two sessions:

  • First Session: January 21 to 30
  • Second Session: April 1 to 10
  • Final Result: April 20

For the first time, candidates will be required to upload a live photograph during the application process. This live photo will be matched with the photo on the candidate’s Aadhaar card. The application will be accepted only if both photos match, so students are advised to update their Aadhaar photo beforehand if needed.

The exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

  • Students will now have new accessibility features such as:
  • Magnifier tool to zoom in on text
  • Dark mode option
  • Ability to adjust font and cursor size on the screen

Students applying for the January session (Session-1) will later have the option to apply again using the same application number and pay the fee separately if they wish to appear for the April session (Session-2). Those who want to apply only for the April session can register later when that window opens.
